Stonewall Park:
Family-Friendly Trails

Stonewall Park is located across from Sherbrooke Provincial Park next to the St. Mary’s River Association building. It is the perfect place to get outside and experience nature in the heart of the community of Sherbrooke. The park has gravel walking trails, boardwalks, platforms overlooking the beautiful rapids of the St. Mary’s River and picnic tables. Stonewall Park is a great trail system for beginners or families with small children. It can also accommodate strollers, mountain bikes and snowshoes for year-round enjoyment. The stone wall was constructed by hand many years ago and can be seen along the trail throughout the park.

Archibald Lake Wilderness Area:
Hidden Gem

The newly announced Archibald Lake Wilderness Area protects three lakes and extensive mature forests, including over 700 acres of old-growth hardwood stands. The Nature Trust’s conservation lands will protect 500 acres of old-growth forests, rare Acadian floodplain forests, and habitat for nationally endangered wildlife including a diversity of birds, turtles, and Atlantic salmon.

Port Bickerton Lighthouse Beach Park Trails:
Coastal Exploration

The Port Bickerton Lighthouse walking trails system is made up of seven trails totalling about 3 1/2 km through a unique range of coastal terrain. The trail offers scenic views, including the lighthouse itself and a beach with opportunities for swimming. It’s a short drive from Sherbrooke Village, heading east on Highway 7 towards Antigonish.

Liscomb River Loop:
Wilderness Adventure

Head out on this 7.6-km loop trail near Liscomb Mills, Nova Scotia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This trail is great for hiking and walking, and you’ll unlikely encounter many other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are April through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

Trails at Liscomb Lodge:
Riverside Stroll

There are four walking trails at Liscombe Lodge: Woodpecker, Prospector, Crooked Falls, and Riverview. Liscomb River and Mayflower are hiking trails where proper hiking footwear is recommended.

DAY-USE PICNIC PARKS

Pioneer Park:
Riverside Relaxation

Located at the back of the public parking area on Main Street the entrance to the park features a walking bridge over the brook. The park has over 190m of river frontage and offers beautiful views of the St. Mary’s River and Historic Sherbrooke Village. With several picnic tables, a gazebo and an open field it is a nice place to stop and enjoy a sunny day by the river.

Sherbrooke Provincial Picnic Park:
Picnic by the River

Nestled along the St. Mary’s River, this park offers shaded picnic tables under towering softwoods, providing a tranquil riverside dining experience.

Lochiel Lake Provincial Park: Lakeside Leisure

Relax at this quiet picnic spot overlooking Lochiel Lake, offering boating and swimming opportunities amidst a serene setting. ​
