The Midday Reset

Lunch at the NEW Village Kitchen (Sherbrooke Village)

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Sherbrooke Village has been working with the The Kilted Chef, Alain Bossé, over the past several months to create a memorable food experience that complements the museum.
Drawing upon Nova Scotia-sourced ingredients wherever possible and local recipes, the Village Kitchen offers a dine-in and grab-n-go service featuring hot and cold specials of the day, a selection of baked goods, and their renowned homemade sodas and homemade ice cream sandwiches.
[Note: open Wednesdays to Sundays 10am to 4pm.]

After lunch, take a gentle walk around the village grounds or sit and enjoy the peaceful riverside setting.

Location: A short drive from the village centre.

  • Explore exhibits on salmon conservation, fishing traditions, and local river history
  • View artifacts, photographs, and interpretive displays
  • This is a calm indoor activity and a good option in warmer or unsettled weather

☀️ Weather Tip: This is an indoor facility, making it the perfect cool haven on a hot afternoon or a cozy refuge if the coastal weather turns unsettled.

Paddlers Trail

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

Featured Stop: Access Point #3 (Waternish)

  • Location & Purpose: Located in Waternish on the Main Branch of the St. Mary's River. This is a designated launch and take-out point for canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards along the St. Mary's River Paddlers Trail.
  • Best For Paddleboarding: The St. Mary's River Association specifically highlights this location as an excellent spot for paddleboarding, thanks to its calmer water compared to some other sections of the river.
  • Wayfinding Signage: Clear signs are posted both along the road and directly on the riverbank, making it easy to identify the access spot whether you are arriving by vehicle or coming in from the water.

Exploring the Larger Paddling Trail:

Access Point #3 is one of four official access points on the St. Mary's River Paddlers Trail, which covers approximately 20 km.

    • The site features interpretive signs equipped with "You Are Here" maps and water condition updates.

    • Signs include stories and photographs about the surrounding area alongside interactive QR codes linking to historical and ecological information.

Tips If You Plan to Paddle:

  • The Main Branch, where Access Point #3 is located, generally has reliable water during much of the paddling season.

  • The St. Mary's River Association recommends checking current water levels before heading out, especially if you plan on paddling other branches of the river.

Return to Sherbrooke afterward.
